I began painting seriously in 2017 and enjoy the challenge of capturing the essence of an object, person, animal or scene.

It is my intention to reach beyond the simple reflection of a physical object, to communicate to the viewer on a deeper level.
My oil painting series, Michelangelo: Reflecting Today, addresses the current state of the world by juxtaposing Michelangelo’s frescoed figures from scenes on the Sistine Chapel ceiling and the wall of The Last Judgement with various threatened wild animals.
I’ve been doing art in some form my entire life. I love to paint things that I find beautiful in and out.
“Nature produces straightforward beauty. Even allowing for pollution’s alterations the textures and compositions created by the decay, repair and rebirth still inspire me.”
For far too many years, while working full-time as an elementary school teacher, I allowed art to become a low priority in my life. I still felt like an artist – until I didn’t.
