My abstract work expresses peaceful, soft themes… I like to express ideas in paint that do not feel harsh or strident.
I picked up a paintbrush 20 some years ago and began to experience the joy of letting go, of watching new realities come to life on canvas.
I work in oil, pastel, mixed media, and on silk, enjoying the bright, vivid colors and textures these mediums provide.
I began painting seriously in 2017 and enjoy the challenge of capturing the essence of an object, person, animal or scene.
It is my intention to reach beyond the simple reflection of a physical object, to communicate to the viewer on a deeper level.
My oil painting series, Michelangelo: Reflecting Today, addresses the current state of the world by juxtaposing Michelangelo’s frescoed figures from scenes on the Sistine Chapel ceiling and the wall of The Last Judgement with various threatened wild animals.
I’ve been doing art in some form my entire life. I love to paint things that I find beautiful in and out.
