Abstract Photography

My style of photography is best summed up in a fortune cookie I once received that reads, “You find beauty in ordinary things. Do not lose this ability.” I’ve been lucky to catch sight of accidental impressionist landscapes in the rust of old car doors, modernist figures in twisted rebar under a bridge, and a transcendent crystal palace in the ice crust of a puddle. Unexpected works of art surround us, be they left by man or nature, to be discovered and shared. So I carry that old fortune cookie aphorism in my wallet as a reminder to keep my eyes open. I carry my camera with me in back alleys, salvage yards, hidden places, or otherwise mundane settings where magic can be found. As a local resident, I am hopeful that viewers will be inspired to open their eyes to the beauty that is all around us.
