Boulder Arts Fest

WHAT: The BAA will be at the Boulder Art Fest, offering a hands-on art mural, oil painting demo with Andrea Roth-Moore, photo booth, raffle and more!

WHO: All are welcome! Adults & Kids of all ages are invited to add some color, design & FUN  to our rollout mural. We’ll have crayons, markers and watercolors –  All we need is YOU!

WHEN: Sunday, July 21st, 10 am – 5 pm

Plein Air Art Gathering near Longmont

WHAT:  You’re invited to a Boulder Art Association Plein Air Art Gathering & Potluck

WHEN: Tuesday, July 9, 2019 from 9 AM – Noon. All Members and friends are welcome.

WHERE:  We’ll meet at Diane Wood‘s beautiful garden near Longmont for a morning of art, refreshments, and community. Diane Wood is an accomplished pastel artist and long-time Boulder Association member (Address & directions below).

HOW: Bring your own art supplies and a dish to share. Since we’re working outside, all mediums are welcome, so paint, sketch, sculpt, photograph as your heart desires!

Recommended: Bring sunblock and a rimmed hat if it’s a sunny day! Also please bring your own water bottle.

 

Location: 6914 St. Vrain Rd., Longmont, CO 80503

Directions from Boulder:
– Take Highway 36 North, towards Lyons
– Turn East on St. Vrain Street
– Proceed approximately four miles, passing 65th Street
– Driveway is immediately past white fence on the South side of Saint Vrain. (The house is not visible)
– Signpost and mailbox read 6914
– Driveway is a one-lane gravel road
– The Wood’s home is the first house on the right, 1/2 mile down drive
– Park in the fruit orchard near the driveway or at the garages

The BAA is excited to invite all to visit our booth in Lyons this August at   Art at the Riverbend!

Join us August 25, 2 pm – 6 pm 

Stop by to say hello or hang out with us & lend a hand with meeting, greeting & discussing our favorite topic: ART!

  • Presenting the art of several member artists! (Available to purchase or simply view.)
  • Raffle prizes every hour! Prizes include: Free One-Year Membership to the BAA, BAA canvas bag, (Large enough to hold an abundance of produce or art supplies!) and an assortment of art cards and works donated by member artists.
  • Art Activities! Keep cool by decorating your very own paper fan or color coloring pages drawn by member artists.
  • Jimi Hendrix & Janis Joplin photo booth! Take a selfie as a 60s icon, painted by Andrea Roth-Moore, one or our fabulous BAA member artists.
  • Artist Demo! Andrea Roth-Moore (Oils) and Ray Geier (Acrylics) will be on site and open to questions, comments and conversation.

Art at the Center Spring Exhibit & Demo Show

2016 Mile High International Pastel Exhibition Presented by The Pastel Society of Colorado

The Pastel Society of Colorado presents its annual Mile High International Pastel Exhibition featuring 100 luminous pastel paintings juried by Kim Casebeer, signature member of the Pastel Society of America. The exhibition runs from July 10 – September 8, 2016 at the Vida Ellison Gallery on the 7th floor of the Denver Central Library.

Boulder Art Association Art Instructors Needed

Frasier Meadows Retirement Community is seeking an artist or artists from the Boulder Art Association to teach art to retired persons in Boulder.

Classes will be held in the wonderful in-house studio facilities at Frasier Meadows.  Have a great time teaching the amazing people of Frasier Meadows who want to create and explore beyond their boundaries of art experience.

NCAR Community Art Program Call-For-Entry Announcement

For over 50 years the NCAR Community Art Program has presented art exhibitions by a range of regional artists at the NCAR Mesa Laboratory in Boulder, CO.  Many of the artist featured in these art exhibitions are Boulder Art Association members including Betsy Cole, Xenia Sease and Diane Wood.

MesaLabEach year, hundreds of artists from the Rocky Mountain region, and beyond, participate in the jury process from which artists are selected for individual and group exhibitions.

The exhibit space is in the expansive cafeteria within the NCAR laboratory building and is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays and from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on weekends and holidays.

We will review the jury process for the NCAR Community Art Program which occurs each spring for shows running from June through May of the following year.

 

The 2016 deadline for submitting artwork is April 11, 2016.

Hands-On Mixed Media Art Demonstration by Jill Berry

The Boulder Art Association is excited to have renowned artist, author, teacher and explorer, Jill Berry as our presenter at the February 2, 2016 meeting.

Jill K. Berry is a graphic designer, mixed-media artist and painter, teacher, maker of storytelling structures and author of 3 books.

After graduating with a degree in Design, she spent a year of graduate studies in Italy. Her work has been published in Somerset Studio, Letter Arts Review, Cloth Paper Scissors, Art Journaling magazine and many other books and publications. She has taught at three universities in Colorado as well as at several major art retreats. Jill K. Berry lives in Superior, CO.

This will be a hands on demonstration so feel free to bring anything you would like to incorporate into your work. Jill will furnish the basic materials: Paper, markers, glue sticks, colored pencils. You may want to bring your own scissors.
