BAA Call For Art

Collage Cards FREE Workshop

In this workshop, we’ll create collaged greeting cards using folded 4.25” × 5.5” ivory cardstock and matching envelopes, incorporating imagery from contemporary magazines alongside vintage and antique papers. All materials will be provided, and the emphasis will be on a playful, intuitive approach.

Pop-Ups for Beginners

I love making pop-ups. I’ve made them with little kids and big kids.
Pop-up cards can become pop-up books –
for yourself, a grandchild, niece, nephew, partner, grandparent or whomever.

Make them for yourself or for others.
I make pop-ups just for the creative pleasure of it.

This mini hands-on workshop is for adults who are new to pop-ups.
No experience necessary.
We have all the supplies.

Creating with Cardboard

Got cardboard? Most of us do. Join us Tuesday, July 14 and get inspired with Robert who takes cardboard to another level with his 3-D cardboard & paper creations.
Robert will show how he cuts and assembles three-dimensional art elements, using paper and cardboard. He’ll be working with a variety of images on paper, some hand-printed patterned papers, inkjet prints, and hand-colored linocuts. He will also demonstrate several gluing methods, using various types of glue.

After learning techniques for working with cardboard, the BAA anticipates a lot less cardboard in the recycle bin and a lot more cardboard creations!

Mushroom Art Workshop

What is the Game of Shrooms? Game of Shrooms is like a geo cache for art,
But what kind of art? Mushroom art!

Join Ed & Jeanne at the BAA Community Studio to create mushroom art, Tuesday, June 9th, 6-8pm for the upcoming Game of Shrooms event. We have acrylic markers, color pencils, watercolors, paper as well as Sculpey for 3-D mushroom creations. We’ll also show you how to register your masterpiece to be part of the Game of Shrooms, a worldwide event which happens June 13th, 2026.

From Landscape to Language

Join contemporary abstract painter Andrea Wedell for an immersive, 90-minute session that bridges the gap between the natural world and the abstract canvas. This
presentation is designed for artists of all levels who want to move past “literal”
representation and develop a personal visual language rooted in the energy of their surroundings.

Art Therapy & Exploring the Opposites

The purpose of this activity is to give participants an experience of exploring and integrating the opposing forces. The invitation is to think of something and it’s polar opposite, for example, night and day, light and shadow/dark, or it can be a bit more conceptual such as freedom vs. limitations, expansion vs. constriction, caring vs indifference, basically the first thing that comes to mind.

Nina will guide us through this hands-on experience plus answer questions about art therapy and being an art therapist.

Artist Trading Cards: Make & Keep or Trade

Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) are artworks the size of standard trading cards (3.5×2.5”). ATCs are meant to be traded, not sold (but keeping or gifting your personal favorites is fine!)

ATCs are perfect for experimenting with different mediums, styles or subjects. They are fantastic for planning larger artworks. They are great for daily art challenges – and so very satisfying for Zentangle, abstract or Neurographic art, quick sketches or even detailed drawings.

Plus they are a fun, low-pressure way to create art!
