I am Russ Poley and I manage Pearl Street Eye in Boulder. We’re an optical store right on the corner of 26th St. and Pearl Street. Like most of the businesses in Boulder, we were hit hard by COVID-19. However, we are now proud to announce that we are once again open Monday-Friday from 9am to 5pm.
I want to find a way to reconnect with the Boulder community. So, I thought, what better way to do that than to reach out to the vibrant and thriving local art community?
Pearl Street Eye has a number of large windows that look out directly onto Pearl Street with terrific visibility. Hundreds upon hundreds of cars drive past every day. I want to give over one of those windows to local artists on a quarterly rotation so they can feature their art to the Boulder community.
Ideally, the subject of the display should have a local flavor and if an artist/s wanted to come up with a theme of vision or sight, so much the better.
Additionally, we will lend the artist the use of our beautiful retail space after hours or on weekends for any gallery showings or art parties.
This cooperative arrangement should continue through 2022 and possibly longer depending on the response we get.
I feel this is truly a win, win situation. Local artists get to display their work in a very prominent location, Pearl Street Eye can reconnect with the community and the people of Boulder get to see some unique local art produced by local artists.
If you are a local artist and you are interested in participating in this program or want to see our facilities please, contact me, Russ Poley, at (303)442-6260 and we can begin the process.
