Boulder Library Canyon Gallery BAA Exhibit: “A Century of Vision”

Exhibit at Boulder Library from June 26 – August 27

Please read thoroughly & note dates in your calendar. Registration link at bottom.

“A Century of Vision” celebrates the BAA’s 100 years of collaborative contributions in fostering a creative community in Boulder. This centennial exhibit represents who we are now – a community of artists, active and relevant, in our commitment to support local artists with shows, education and events. Conceived in 1923 by Jean Sherwood and then CU Dean of Arts & Sciences, FBR Hellems, the Boulder Art Association is excited to continue another 100 years and beyond!

WHO: BAA Member Artists (Current 2024 membership required)

WHAT: BAA Member Exhibit in the main library gallery! The Canyon Gallery is a large space, perfect for larger work as well as medium sized pieces, and spacious enough for two entries each!

WHERE: Boulder Main Library Canyon Gallery, 1001 Arapahoe Avenue, Boulder CO 80302

WHEN: The show runs from June 26th through August 27th, 2024. (Details follow below.)

The Art

  • Current 2024 BAA membership required.
  • Open theme: Newer work encouraged.
  • Art must be family friendly. This gallery is visited by families with children and so images and sculptural pieces must be “G-Rated”.
  • Artists may submit a total of TWO artworks.
    • For 2D work, minimum size is 11” any side, including frame (due to challenges with hanging system for smaller pieces).
      • For one of the two, the size is unlimited with a weight limit of 15 pounds.
      • For the second of the two, maximum dimensions on any side is 24” (minimum 11” on any side).
    • 3D, diptych or triptych art welcome – each piece must adhere to dimension maximum (24”) and minimum (11”) size limits.
    • 3D work: The library has a variety of display stands to choose from!
    • 2D Work must be wired properly for safe & secure display (No sawtooth hangers). The BAA requests artists use braided wire. For larger/heavier pieces, D hooks and vinyl coated braided heavy duty steel wire are required.
  • Wires should be connected ⅓ down from the top of the frame for best display.
  •  The BAA is not responsible for damaged artwork due to incorrect hanging materials and/or mounting by the artist.
  • Art must be original. (AI generated art is acceptable provided AI is used as a tool to create components of the final artwork rather than the entire completed work. An artist can use AI to manipulate their own works or use AI created parts and incorporate those parts into a finished product. Fully AI created artwork which is generated solely from a prompt will not be accepted.)
  • Art must be labeled on back (or bottom with 3D work): Artist name, art title, and price.
