Prospectus
The BAA is excited to announce our second 2025 member exhibit, redwhiteblue/YOU.
The BAA will be joining forces with other Wilderness Art Studios artists (and neighboring Boulder School of Fine Arts) for our 2nd First Friday event with music, art demos, treats and ARTful activities!
In addition to the exhibit, there will be table space for 2 member artists to sell hand-crafted items during the July 4th First Friday event! It will be a fun, busy day for the entire Wilderness artist community and beyond!
Our redwhiteblue/YOU exhibit has 3 components.
- Main Show piece inspired by “YOU”
- What represents YOU? Your theme, your passion, your style, medium, favorite colors, subjects? Or maybe do a self-portrait holding a beloved pet. Or not. YOU choose. Your choice. (Details for size etc below.)
- 6×6” panel/cradle art, inspired by “redwhiteblue”
- Red, white & blue can inspire many things. A focus on the colors separately or a blending of some or all of the colors.
- Or go symbolic. What does red, white & blue activate within you?
- Or just a lovely piece of artwork with red, white & blue as the main colors!
- First Friday Events July 4th, partnering with Wilderness Art Studios!

Four Poems about Freedom & Independence
I Hear America Singing
By Walt Whitman
I hear America singing, the varied carols I hear,
Those of mechanics, each one singing his as it should be blithe and strong,
The carpenter singing his as he measures his plank or beam,
The mason singing his as he makes ready for work, or leaves off work,
The boatman singing what belongs to him in his boat, the deckhand singing on the steamboat deck,
The shoemaker singing as he sits on his bench, the hatter singing as he stands,
The wood-cutter’s song, the ploughboy’s on his way in the morning, or at noon intermission or at sundown,
The delicious singing of the mother, or of the young wife at work, or of the girl sewing or washing,
Each singing what belongs to him or her and to none else,
The day what belongs to the day—at night the party of young fellows, robust, friendly,
Singing with open mouths their strong melodious songs.
The Fourth of July Parade
By Fran Haraway
- Stripes and stars,
- Antique cars,
- Pretty girls,
- Baton twirls,
- Spangled gowns,
- Friendly clowns,
Smiling folks,
Papered spokes,
Marching feet,
Endless heat,
Clapping hands,
High school bands,
Town traditions,
Politicians,
Perspiration,
Celebration!
Freedom
Freedom will not come
Today, this year
Nor ever
Through compromise and fear.
I have as much right
As the other fellow has
To stand
On my two feet
And own the land.
I tire so of hearing people say,
Let things take their course.
Tomorrow is another day.
I do not need my freedom when I’m dead.
I cannot live on tomorrow’s bread.
Freedom
Is a strong seed
Planted
In a great need.
I live here, too.
I want my freedom
Just as you.
The Summer Day
Emily Dickenson
The Eagle of his Nest
No easier divest—
And gain the Sky
Than mayest Thou—Except Thyself may be
Thine Enemy—
Captivity is Consciousness—
So’s Liberty …
