Pop-Ups for Beginners (An Adults Only Event)

I love making pop-ups. I’ve made them with little kids and big kids. Pop-up cards can become pop-up books - for yourself, a grandchild, niece, nephew, partner, grandparent or whomever.
Make them for yourself or for others. I make pop-ups just for the creative pleasure of it.
WHERE: BAA Community Studio
WHEN: August 11th 6-8:00 PM 2026
DETAILS: This mini hands-on workshop is for adults who are new to pop-ups. No experience necessary. We have all the supplies.

Bryan McKinney

Mixed Media Artist

Bryan McKinney is a Boulder-based artist who recently relocated to Colorado after spending the past 20 years living and working on St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands. His work is inspired by the landscapes, wildlife, and human stories that define a sense of place. Working in watercolor, gouache, oil, and mixed media, he combines a background in illustration, mural painting, graphic design, and art education with a love of observation and craftsmanship.

Mike Stabler

Mixed Media Artist

Many years ago, I got a BFA. I didn't 'do' art for a long time. Boulder's welcoming art community recently drew me back. I LOVE it! I primarily do watercolor, but also like to do collage and pencil sketches. I am still getting comfortable with calling myself an 'artist.' Regardless, I'm hopeful that you enjoy my 'pretty good art.'

Barbara Benstein

Pastels Media Artist

I am a commission artist with 34 years of experience, specializing in creating paintings in either oils or pastels that capture the essence of individuals and pets as well as landscapes. It brings me immense joy to craft a piece that resonates with my clients.

Bezhan Urfonov

Oil Artist

I am an oil painter inspired by everyday life, hard work, and the beauty in simple moments. My work often features classic cars, animals, statues, and landscapes—subjects that carry history and character. I focus on light, shadow, and atmosphere to create realistic and honest pieces. My goal is to capture not just what I see, but the feeling behind it.
