Photographing 2D & 3D Artwork for Web & Print – Artist Workshop

At our November 7th meeting, BAA members Xenia Sease and Ron Broome will talk about and demonstrate photographing artwork.

Xenia will cover photography of 2D works and Ron will discuss photographing 3D pieces. Then, together they will introduce the basics of manipulating digital images (cropping, color adjustment, re-sizing, etc.) for print and web media (websites, emails and social media).

A basic overview of copyright protection will be introduced to learn what your rights are as an artist.

Hi all,
Thanks for attending the presentation on photographing artwork! There were lots of great questions and discussion.  It was a lot of material. Sorry that we ran over a bit and were rushed at the end.
Here is a link to the information page with the handout from CU Visual Arts:  Tech Tips for Photographing Artwork.
A link to the slides is below.   Feel free to contact us with questions from the presentation.

This workshop will be partially led by Xenia Sease, a contemporary realist painter in Boulder, CO. Xenia has been juried into national and international exhibitions and has garnered awards for her paintings.  A past board member of the Boulder Art Association, she enjoys sharing her artistic knowledge and encouraging new or aspiring artists.  She does not consider herself a professional photographer, but out of necessity she has learned how to professionally photograph her own artwork and that of other artists’ work.

This workshop will also be led by Ron Broome, a sculptor in Boulder, CO. In addition to pursuing stone and ceramic sculpture, Ron worked in the software industry for 28+ years specializing in computer graphics, user interface design, training, website development, and business management. Early in his career, he worked in ski photography (35mm SLR). Besides his sculptural pursuits, today he focuses on website design and development helping artists, and small non-profits and businesses develop an effective web presence.
