Message from Your President – Jo Richardson
Last month we reached out to you, our members, to help us make some big decisions about the future of the Boulder Art Association. First of all, I’d like to thank everyone who was able to make it to the member meeting, and those of you who passed along your ideas via phone or email; we received a lot of great input and support.
This member support has made it possible for us to begin envisioning a new future for the Boulder Art Association; and I’m excited to be able to spearhead this new direction as your new President.
I began volunteering at the Boulder Art Association in the beginning of 2016 as a marketing intern, looking for a small way to help my local art community. And then, this last November, I took on the duties of Board Secretary as well. I had no idea, when I started a year ago, that this seemingly small step would give back to me in such a big way. I’ve learned so much from my volunteer experience at the Boulder Art Association, and have been inspired by the fellow artists and art lovers I have met through the organization.
My goal for the Boulder Art Association is for it to become an invaluable resource, not only for you, our members, but for the larger Boulder art community as well. Helping to reach this goal is our amazing board. All of our members volunteer their time and passion to the organization as well as their unique expertise. If you are interested in becoming involved in the board, there are opportunities available. We are still in need of a Fundraising Chair, and also have a few spots remaining for Advisory (non-voting) members.
Introducing the New BAA Board
Ray Geier – Treasurer (continuing)
Jennifer Johnson – Secretary
Jo Richardson – President
Ron Broome – Education Chair
Lori Mattina – Membership Chair (continuing)
Ed Narvaez– Marketing Chair (continuing)
Susan Soklin– Exhibition Chair
Together we are looking forward to a fresh start for the Boulder Art Association. Tuesday, May 2nd, instead of a regular member meeting, the new board will be meeting for the first time to discuss what the Boulder Art Association can be and how we will get there.
But we can’t do it without all of you. We need your help to keep the BAA running. In the upcoming weeks we will be sending out an all-member survey to determine what your vision is for the BAA, and where you’re able to help out. Please take a few moments to complete the survey. Your feedback will help shape the future of the BAA. Thank you.
I am looking forward to serving you as the president of the Boulder Art Association.
