We want the Boulder artist community to know about the new BLDG 61: Boulder Library Makerspace which will begin normal hours of operation on February 19th in the Main Branch of the Boulder Public Library.
This new resource is part of The Maker Movement at Boulder Public Library. The maker culture emphasizes learning-through-doing in a social environment. The library provides tools, space, and resources to further the Maker Movement here in Boulder. The new BLDG 61 is made possible through a grant from the Boulder Library Foundation.
Boulder Art Association member Diane Wood has a solo art show of her newest art at St. Aiden’s Episcopal Church in Boulder, Colorado from December 1, 2015 to January 31, 2016. St. Aiden’s Church is located at 2425 Colorado Avenue, Boulder, CO 80302.
We hope you and your family can join us on Sunday, December 6th for the annual Boulder Art Association Holiday Party and White Elephant Gift Exchange.
Wine and Martinelli’s sparkling juice will be provided by the Boulder Art Association, but please bring a snack or dessert to share with the group!
For those of you who couldn’t participate last year, here’s how the white elephant gift exchange works. Each participant brings one wrapped gift. Gifts can be any inexpensive or humorous items for the home or office and can be new or used.
The gifts are placed in a central location, and participants determine in what order they will take turns selecting them. The first person selects a wrapped gift and opens it. On subsequent turns, each person can either open a new gift or “steal” another person’s unwrapped gift. When a person’s gift is stolen, that person can either choose another wrapped gift to open or can steal from another player. The game is over the last person goes and the first person goes again (the final steal).
We hope you can join us at out fun and exciting end of year holiday party!

Denise makes mittens from felted sweaters and lines them with cashmere or merino wool. They are the “warmest things to put on your hand” says her son and husband. She’s made so many felted mittens that she has become inundated with felted wool. Due to the excess, she came up with the idea for this project to help veterans.
In this volunteer “sew-in” session you will cut up sweaters and stitch squares and rectangles together to make afghans. When completed the afghans will be donated to veterans and the staff of the Veterans Hospital is “over the moon” with the idea.
Denise is looking for volunteers to help cut and sew the afghans. The work is very easy and can be done by almost anyone. Each of the afghans will be about 40 x 40 inches when completed. You can help during this one session and you are welcome to continue to work on afghans at home while there is still a stock of sweaters available.
This volunteer “sew-in” day is on Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11, 2015, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. It will be held at the Boulder Art Association – Art Center behind the Meadows Shopping Center, in Boulder just east of the Meadows Branch of the Boulder Public Library.
Please contact Denise Labadie with any questions at email@example.com or 720-352-0973.
