2016 CROSSING BORDERS Art Exhibition at Dairy Arts Center in Boulder
The Dairy Arts Center presents a juried group exhibition called CROSSING BORDERS that explores the immigration experience from a variety of viewpoints and art mediums. Each piece tells a unique story about the artist’s experience of immigrating to a new place, the immigration story of the artist’s family or friends, and/or a discussion about contemporary issues related to immigration. The exhibit is on view Friday, May 6 – Friday, May 27, 2016.
An artist statement will accompany each piece, sharing with viewers a variety of viewpoints on immigration and diverse experiences of immigrating to a new country. Thirty pieces have been selected for this exhibition from nineteen different artists in Boulder county and surrounding areas. The art mediums represented in this exhibition include photography, sculpture, textile, video, painting, collage, and graphic design. This exhibition is held in conjunction with the One Action 2016: Arts + Immigration Project.
Boulder Art Association member Ninel Senatorova is featured in the exhibition.
The opening reception for Crossing Borders will be held on Friday, May 6 from 5:00-7:00pm and it is free and open to the public. This opening event is part of the new Fusion Fridays series at the Dairy, which features live music in the MacMillan Family Lobby and drink specials at the Polk Cafe.
